# Position Information
## Overview
The core purpose of the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) is to advance Rutgers preeminence in research and spur economic growth. ORED provides services university-wide to support the faculty's research and strategically leads the university's economic development activities. ORED's functions range from supporting the identification of new research funding opportunities and submission of grants proposals to post-award financial management and research regulatory affairs. The office directs research commercialization, including patenting and licensing, and serves as a central point for industry access.
## Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). As part of ORED, this position provides program coordination, organizational and administrative support to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) and its projects and programs such as the Research Development Professional monthly meeting and PREP grant writing facilitation. The Program Coordinator I has responsibility for project coordination, financial, and web site tasks. These include, but are not limited to organizing and coordinating meetings, events, and programs, updating websites, collecting information on grant awards, honors and news items, preparing expense reports, requisitions, and making travel arrangements.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Completes various Federal and Rutgers University forms necessary to complete grant applications and track grant awards. Work is consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Office of Research and Economic Development.
* Coordinates and supports grant application activities for Research Development projects, update project management spreadsheets, task schedules and budgets, coordinate and fill out various Rutgers and funding agency forms, files and benchmarking, complete pre-award and post-award forms, and interact with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
* Prepares and records expense reports, purchase orders, requisitions, and process invoices for payment and updates financial spreadsheets.
* Carries out routine and semi-routine work within work parameters for the Office of Research Administration and under general supervision.
* Performs professional work that requires knowledge of office administration and general program coordination practices.

# Qualifications
## Minimum Education and Experience
* Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office management, project coordination, organization, facilitation, grant reporting, writing and promotion/outreach
* Requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in grant support, administrative, or program coordination functions
## Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Close attention to detail, superior oral communication skills, computer literacy
* The ability to grasp and summarize new concepts and information in an accurate and concise manner
## Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of Fastlane and grants.gov would be viewed favorably, as would website development experience and familiarity with the Drupal content management system, Constant Contact, and a graphics design platform such as Adobe Illustrator
## Equipment Utilized
* Standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and scanners
* Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), Constant Contact, Design software (either Publisher or inDesign), website content management systems (Drupal preferred), grant submission systems (SAGE, Fastlane, eRA Commons), University procurement and expense management systems
